Prepare your reservation system for the VAT increase on lodging in Belgium from 6% to 12% Update Reservation software 12 February 2026
Just like in the Netherlands, the VAT rate for lodging is also being increased in Belgium. Unlike in the Netherlands, however, the change in Belgium will take effect in March 2026—that is, during the current calendar year. This requires attention and adjustments to the administrative processes in your reservation system. To ensure a smooth transition, we’ve added functionality to our system that allows you to work with specific VAT profiles. A VAT profile automatically ensures that the correct VAT rate is applied based on the set effective date. This allows you to ensure that a 6% VAT rate is applied to bookings made before March 2026, while bookings made on or after March 2026 will be subject to a 12% VAT rate. Specifically for Belgium, the VAT profile “BE - VAT Rental (6% > 12%)” will now be applied; you do not need to make any adjustments yourself. However, if you want to set up the profile retroactively, it is important that you perform a batch update. If you have any questions about this, please contact our support team at email hidden; JavaScript is required.
This update ensures that you are prepared for future changes from the government and that your prices and bookings always calculate the correct VAT rate.
