Extension in NIS reporting for Belgian users of our reservation system Update Reservation software 24 September 2024

Tourism businesses, such as campsites, vacation parks and hotels, are required to provide data on their guests through the NIS survey. In particular, it is about the number of overnight stays, origin of guests and occupancy rates. The data from the NIS survey (National Inventory of Tourism) are used in Belgium to understand tourism trends, economic analysis and policy developments. The information is also used to compare tourist destinations; how does a province or city perform compared to other provinces or cities? Government agencies such as Statbel (the Belgian statistical office), gratefully use information from NIS surveys.

To accurately analyze data by accommodation type, an additional filter option has been added to the NIS report. A column with arrival dates of tourist accommodations has also been added, so that the number of overnight stays can be calculated on that basis. Reporting is kept up to date based on Belgian laws and regulations.
